In what they describe as their best musical offering so far, gospel music duo Bongi & Collin are hoping their latest single – He Is Still God, will resonate as relatable, relevant and revitalizing. Though the award-winning duo, who happen to be husband and wife, have been doing music for years with a number of hit songs, they are adamant He Is Still God is their best song far considering the circumstances and events leading to its release. “On this one, as much as we have been around, it’s a bit different because of how we poured our hearts out. We sang as if this is our last song. We had to pour our hearts out because the song, when it came, it spoke to us first. It ministered to us,” Collin Damans told Gospel247. “The song is testimony. How it came about and not only that but the lyrical content, the message in the song, is just a proclamation that God is still God. We were going through a storm of our own as a couple so when the song came. It brought hope and healing.” The hope and healing that Bongi & Collin got when their friend gave them the song is what the couple want to share with the rest of the world. Bongi Damans says the song, which got released on a number of digital platforms today, has already ministered to their closest friends who can’t get enough of it. “I am excited but I think people around us are more excited than us. It feels good. It’s one of those songs that when you listen to it, you like I am not adding anything and I am not subtracting anything. We are usually our worst critics sometime but with this song we were like, this is it,” said Bongi. “I am hoping the song will resurrect hope in many people. It has been strong in my heart and in my spirit, I am hoping that every single person, at the first listen of the song, may have hope resurrected and restored in them. For those who need healing, it must just take place immediately. If you listen to it, there must be change in your life right away.” Bongi & Collin, who tied the knot in 2006, met at the rehearsals when they were both backing vocals for the legendary Bishop Benjamin Dube years ago. The duo have grown in leaps and bounds in the music industry. They first came into the public light when gospel singer Keke featured them on his Live DVD recording over a decade ago. In 2010, they released their first album – Makadunyiswe, which won Best Urban Gospel Album at the South African Music Awards. Their follow up album – Live Again saw them walk away with Best RNB Gospel Award at the Crown Gospel Music Awards in 2013. With their latest single, they want to help people win back their hope and dreams during the trying times of Covid-19 pandemic which brought the world to a standstill. “This pandemic has hit very hard. It has been painful but I want us, as people, to really not lose focus. It has been difficult but I believe there’s a shift. There’s a lot we can learn about ourselves to focus on ourselves and God. It is painful but it has come to bring certain change in our lives. As painful as it is, it’s going to be a good change and we gonna come out on the other side bigger stronger and wiser,” said Bongi.
